At Second Language Design, we love projects that fuse creativity with cultural depth. Our latest collaboration with Glasgow’s infamous Bloc+ is a perfect example.
A staple of Bath Street, Bloc+ is known for its eclectic live music and bold, innovative food.
When owner John Burns wanted a fresh menu design, he needed something distinctive yet true to Bloc’s raw, urban aesthetic.
Teaming up again 20 years after our first collaboration, Carl (who lived in Glasgow after graduating university) and John, crafted a punchy, high-impact menu that’s as functional as it is eye-catching. Featuring bold red and aubergine tones, copper grid details, and amber tape, it’s designed to stand out both in print and on socials.
For Carl, the project was personal—a chance to channel the energy of his Glasgow days into a design that feels inclusive, urban, and unmistakably Bloc+.
